As we practice our exercise at Living Well sessions, we are united in the songs that play, in the Word upon which we meditate, and in our general flow of motion. At the same time, each woman moves at her own pace. Each follows her own breath, as instructed. Breathing in, we reach up. Breathing out, we sink down. To hurry the moves, in order to stay in time with someone else’s motion, is to become out of sync with our own breath. The greatest benefit comes when we heed the instructions, then listen to our breath, then exercise the freedom to respect our bodies’ strengths and limitations. Some can stretch farther than others; some can hold a certain pose longer; some can hold their balance more easily. Each woman is progressing and growing, through this practice.
These things are also true in my walk with the Lord. I am united with other believers in our devotion to Him, in our purpose of glorifying Him. Meanwhile, I will thrive only when I use the gifts He has given me. To pine after the abilities He has given to another is to disregard the abundance he has given to me. I have to respect the story He has written in my life, recognize that it is different from others’, and it will lead me into different ways of ministering. Some can stand in front of a crowd and articulate the Gospel clearly; some can perform acts of service that provide comfort to the hurting in the name of Jesus; some can discern error and speak the truth in love and grace, to add balance to a situation. All are in need of Grace daily, and yet all can glorify God. Each of us is progressing and being sanctified, through the Spirit’s work in us.
